Welcome to Fall 2018!
At the expense of sounding like one of my beloved grandparents, I'm not quite sure how this year has gotten away so quickly.
Fall means harvest. It means gleaning from all that was sown in hope previously. Fall - a season of fulfillment.
I've absolutely never been a farmer, though I've made some weak attempts at growing tomatoes. True farmers invest all and then pour out sweat, blood, tears, and prayers over the ground he's sown with hope. Now that’s the definition of faith!
For me, Fall means a different kind of gleaning and harvest. October is the time of year when I spend 31 days in a row writing about one theme. This year my 31 days will be devoted to the lessons I've been learning as my husband and I have been Waiting for The Wind to set us sailing.
Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;
Psalm 37:7 NIV
The Lord has had much to say to me about waiting and He has often sent me back to the wisdom of Psalm 37. Over the last four years, my Good Shepherd has been teaching to stay close to Him and to trust Him.
Because my heart is full of adventure I have a tendency to want to go, go, and go some more. Understandably then, it’s been a difficult learning curve for me to accept the idea of being still, staying put and being content with the wait.
Jesus has been so patient with me as He has daily reminded me to dwell in the safe place He has given me to live and to trust His plans and His ways are best for me. He’s comforted me with the truth that waiting for Him doesn’t mean sitting in time out. He wants me to do good in the place where I dwell.
I hear my Shepherd with goodness in His heart for me whisper…
“Delight yourself in Me and I will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
There’s so much more to learning contentment in the season of WAIT…
I hope you will join me beginning October 1st as I share from my heart and God’s Word all that He is teaching me about contentment in the WAIT. This year I’m joining the trend toward writing on Insta. My daily posts will appear on Instagram @lisarbrittain If you don’t Instagram, don’t worry; I will post weekly here at my ponder blog.
Since I’ve just learned that this will be the last year for Write 31 Days, I’m even more excited about participating. This also means that if you’ve ever been tempted to participate in Write 31 Days, this is the year to do it! So whether you want to write or read, please join me for the month of October… Waiting for The Wind
~ Meet Lisa Brittain ~
Hi. I'm so glad you stopped by. My name is Lisa and I am the founder of this website. My ministry is called Eyes on Jesus and Shine which comes from Psalm 34:5
My desire is to help others run toward Jesus and not away. I want to walk with you and introduce you to Him. I'll leave you two alone so you can find out for yourself; Who He is and who you are as you become adopted into God's family.
I love to walk through life with friends who help me keep my eyes on Jesus, and then I get to help them too when they forget. My hope is to live the overflow of my walk with Jesus so that His love shines bright through me and becomes a contagious joy for everyone I meet for the rest of my days on earth.
