I remember a lot of things. Some of them happy and some of them sad.
I have been looking at old slides from my grandparents, which has brought many happy thoughts to me. I'm seeing the old pictures of the vacations that they took and some that we took with them. As I have been thinking about the word remember, I came across the verse:
“for I will be merciful to their iniquities and I will remember their sins no more.” Hebrews 8:12
That got me thinking about what we choose to remember. Do we choose to remember the things that make us sad or the things that bring joy to our hearts?
I could choose to remember the hard times I went through as a child with my mother loving my sister more than me. Or, I could choose to remember the vision that God gave me of Him being a Lion with me every step of the way during my childhood.
I choose the Lion!
What we remember is a choice and I believe that God wants us to choose to remember no more the iniquities that others have done to us. Instead, He wants us to focus on all the love He pours out to us.
We only need to look and we will see His love for us. And those memories will bring a smile to our face.
